Borat, Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan

posted Monday, 6 November 2006

Borat is offensive.  It offended me.  It offended the people of which it makes fun.  It offended the people of Kazakhstan.  Pretty much it offended everyone in one way or another.  Rush out and see it now.  It is one of the funniest things to hit the big screen in a while, and it contains subtle and not so subtle social commentary.

Sacha Baron Cohen plays Borat as he travels across the United States meeting with people who think he is actually a television reporter from Kazakhstan.  That is if you believe it is all real and that none of it is staged.  Of course, this is Hollywood and the line between real and staged is very fine.  However, the looks on the faces of some of the people Borat meets indicate that they had no idea who he was.  Of course now the joke is over since Borat has become the biggest selling movie of the weekend.  Try finding people who have never heard of him now.
