Every year it hits NYC about this time: heat, humidity, and the wondrous smells rising off the sidewalk, out of the sewers and from the subways. You can play a game of name that smell with your friends!) New Yorkers are never prepared for the summer despite its recurrence every year. And what about me... did I avoid it this year. Nope. After 5 years my AC died. It still makes a lot of noise, but no cool air comes out. So I purchased a new one, only to find out it has issues. As soon as any water builds up in the water tank, it begins to make a grinding noise ever minute or so. The helpful woman on Whirlpool's customer service line has me all set up for an appointment to have someone fix it.
In the meantime, I face the question, "Is the heat or the grinding noise worse?"
Definitely the heat.
