The West Side Stadium, the Olympics, and Mayor Bloomberg

posted Tuesday, 7 June 2005

Let me just say, I AM SO OVER THE WEST SIDE STADIUM!  If I have to hear Mayor Bloomberg whine about his pet project one more time I am going to scream.  He sounds like a spoiled child who isn't getting his way.  It's obvious he wants to be known as the Mayor who brought the Olympics to NYC, but it's also obvious that the taxpayers of NYC don't want to fund this stadium when there are so many other issues that need to be taken care of first.

We don't want the olympics here.  No one I know is in favor of an increase in traffic and congestion that will be caused by the stadium.  There is no plan to handle all those people from NJ and upstate NY who will insist on driving into the city every time there is a game at the stadium.  It's pretty obvious that this plan has not be thought out completely.

I say lets spend some time finding the best solution instead of rushing into this project just because of the Olympics.  The mayor needs to stepback and rethink his proposal.  If it had been fully planned to begin with, there might not be so much of an uproar about it now.
