Tis the season...

posted Friday, 20 October 2006

Yes, it is still Halloween season, and I am still in full on Halloween mode.  Last night, at the last second, I got a call from friends who wanted to go to Nightmare: Face Your Fear.  Despite the cold and sniffle I have, I headed out the door instead of getting a full nights sleep.  I have the rest of the year to sleep, but haunted house season ends soon.

We ordered tickets online ahead of time, but could have gotten them at the door.  However, as Halloween approaches it will be harder and harder to get them, so order now!

This is the second or third time I have been to this particular haunted venue over the past few years.  I went the first time they did this event, and it was pretty good.  This year it is much improved and even scarier!

Nightmare contains 13 rooms, each of which is designed after a different fear.  The creators of this haunted house polled New Yorkers to find out what their greatest fears were, and then created their haunted house based on this information.  If you are afraid of being buried alive, torture, evil doctors, clowns, strange things outside your window, etc., this event will give you the creeps, if not downright scare the pants off of you.  And, if you bring a date, try not to give him or her up to the ghouls too quickly.  My friend may never live down how fast he shouted out his girlfriend's name when they asked who would be the first to...  Well I can't say what they did to her, but it wasn't pretty.

Before and after the event, you can hang at the bar, shop in the gift shop, and generally have a great time if you have to wait.

Tickets are sold in timeslots, so the wait is never too long.  And, this year there is one haunt in each of the five boroughs, so you are never far from being scared to death.  Check out your fears at Nightmare, running until the end of the month.
